After much research I installed a set of bfg at's 285-70-17 on my h2 wheels.
They are the perfect fit. No rubbing (even with heavy mudflaps while turning full tilt) no pulling, no heavy force to turn at slow speeds, no tire noise, great traction and wear, good excelleration and stopping. This is the tire/wheel combo this truck should have come with. I got 60k out of my last set of bfg h2 tires by the way.
They are really nice.

how much did you have to give for the 285 BFGs?

PC, Im glad that you found something that works for ya. Probably looks better on the H2s than on the stock rims.

They are nice tires, I have a set of them on my 90 Z71. Don't expect them to perform too well in mud because they get filled up and can't clean themselves out too well, and they seem to pick up rocks and hold them unril 50 mph +. When they let go, it causes rocks to fly into oncoming traffic, chip up the side of the truck, and and make loud, disturbing thumps and rocks get slamming into the under carriage. They smoke really well and have great traction in wet pavement. I have several miles on mine and they look practically new.

I got some big long mudflaps installed now that my tires clear. Let the rocks fly...

Lol! I forgot you mentioned those. I'd be interested in a pic once everyting is completed and you have a chance. Might have to put something like that on my 90.

the mudders only pick up bigger rocks and still hold them to 50+. any one know if they are making a 295 on 17" rim yet?

I got the duraflaps and had dennis make them about 4-5 inches longer. They hang way down and dont allow anything to hit the truck. I had the backs mounted since 6mo's ago but the front would not clear until I got smaller tires.
