Ive burnt the battery posts off 2 batteries.Dont have a clue what to do next. Please advise.

Thanks for your suggestion. I replaced ign. switch, starts cold, no problem but tried to start it hot and starter stuck again and fried another battery. Could it possibly be the starter?

Your starter drive or solenoid is locking up and keeping power applied thru the solenoid. My solution was to replace the starter and solenoid as I didn't trust either one after my batteries were drained (not ruined). I shut my engine down immediately, but the starter still turned over at very high speed (since it was locked to the flywheel ring gear) which can ruin a starter. Luckily, we were out of town at our daughters house and a local Checkers store had a starter with lifetime warranty. Be sure you check the starter drive teeth clearance with the ring gear.

If your problem happens to anyone else then I would suggest that they not fasten the neg. battery post on each battery so they can be pulled off ASAP to cut power to the starter. I would have someone at the front of the vehicle ready to pull the cables off!!!
