: Exhaust temp not towing?

Just added a EGT to my 2005 and the only other mod is the cat back system. I towed an empty 2900LB trailer in 85 degree weather and the highest the temp got was 900 going up one hill. Most of the time it was around 800 doing 75mph.

Dropped the trailer off and head same route back home and the EGT temp never got above 600 and that was doing 75. At a light with the truck idling the EGT showed 500.

The probe is 2-3 inches below the junction of the pass manifold and down pipe, in the pipe heading to the cat.

Is this normal? I keep hearing to watch out for 1400 temps.
Thanks
Ray

your post turbo....you need to watch for temps getting to 1000-1100* max which is comparable to 1400* preturbo.
