Ouch... unfortunately I had to do some work on the fuel lines... at the moment I'm trying to reconnect everything with new fuel lines, but can't figure out the routing and no truck until I do.

Between the back of the filter and the firewall there is an outlet is this the return line? Does it join with other return line on the frame rail or inside the engine.

I see the out port on the front of the filter housing. Is the line next to it the "in" port? Does fuel come from the valve cock to the in port?

Thanks... you'd think I'd know better but I disconnected my poor old shabby lines without writing this down - (actually I thought I knew what I was doing but...)

Thanks,
Bill

Follow up for any one who has read my initial post.

Unlike my Benz I didn't realize that the filter had no return. I couldn't attach the original lines back to the filter (out from filter and what turned out to be a line to the valve cock.) The original lines go underneath the intake manifold and because I left my surgical instruments at the office... I decided to run new lines above the intake manifold.

Thanks,
Bill

If you have a 6.2 with the cannister type fuel filter on the firewall then this is the way it should be hooked up: (1) the top right is the inlet from the fuel pump, (2) top left is the air bleed, (3) bottom is the filter drain (for water) that goes to a shutoff valve, (4) back rear is the outlet to the injection pump. There isn't a return line to the tank or to the injector return sytem.
