I installed my MBRP cat-back exhaust yesterday and it went very smoothly. I did jack up the rear of the truck to remove the stock exhaust and it slide right out forward. then I installed the new pipe in reverse order, from tailpipe to muffler to mid pipe. I did have to cut off 9 1/4 inches off of the mid pipe where it slips into the 4 bolt flange, This is required for a extended cab 4x4. The instructions need to be updated, if you look at the exhaust hangers on the directions it show to use the shortest hanger for the mid pipe and you should use the medium sized hanger instead. I also noticed the more I drive it the better it is starting to sound, is this because the pipe is starting to get coated with soot?
Once again thank you DISTRUBED for you help:muahaha:

I was also extremely happy with the quality and fit of MBRP exhaust. Have fun.
I put mine on Friday !! The stock exhaust wasn't as easy as I thought it would be !! Get the old exhaust off the hanger's was much harder at first than I thought......but figured them out and it went easy from there !! Took mine out the back way and "had " to drop the tire and loosen the shock !!!
MBRP went easy ! I used 4" band clamps for fitting the pipes together (thanks-Parts guy if you read this) !! Used the MRBP clamps for hangers !! Had to cut about 4" off the mid-pipe !! Took me 2 hrs 45 min total to install !!
Mine is like yours.........getting a little louder each day !! I really like the way it sounds now after a few days........but I hope it doesn't get " a lot" louder !!!
I got 21.5 mpg on a hwy drive this weekend ............so I think its all working awesome !!

Glad you like it man! The instructions do need some updating. Best way is to lay it all out like you did and go back to front. Enjoy!

what were you getting before that
Brian , Not sure ! I just got the truck and have only went on 2 trips ! This is the only trip I kept up with it !!
But with all of the reports of getting 17-18 on the highway..........I feel like 21-22 mpg @80 mph is pretty good on 285's !! It's a lot better than my gasser for sure !!

Looking for the band clamps! Thought maybe Caterpillar would be a good place to look. Should I just ask for "4" Band Clamps"? Did someone say they're available in stainless. Part number by chance? How many did you need?
Thanks.
I got mine at NAPA part number 733-5976 ! I needed 3 for fitting the pipes together ! I used the MBRP clamps with the hangers welded on.......just for hanging the system ....not for holding the pipes together !!
Sorry if I inadvertantly hijacked this thread !!
