Won't be able to check dealer price until Monday, but I expect it will be $$. I see ssdiesel has them. I can't believe they are this hard to find. Anyone else know of a source?

www.teamchev.com, ask for Gale. Just got one last month for something like $45-47.

What's wrong with it? Did it not pass the test? (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11637)

I didn't really give it a test per se... but there's oil leaking out into the... uh... whatever you call that...air tube to the turbo. I mean enough oil to make a mess.

I just figured I'd replace it. Truck has 74K... I doubt it's ever been done anyway.

Didn't test it but it seems to be leaking an abnormal amount of oil into the turbo intake...

Just figured I might as well replace it.

Did you check out that link to the CDR in my post? Oil will be a natural byproduct inside that section of intake. It may increase as the engine ages and things begin to loosen up a bit.

CDR replacement would only be needed if it failed above test. Click the link in the above post, and see whatcha think. May save a few buckeroo's for other mods, fun, (or repairs) later. ;)

OK KNKreb. Your wisdom has convinced me. I will test it this week... before purchasing one.

Thanks,
Bill

Alrighty... I think I just fooled myself into thinking I could do the test... please judge me on this.

I realized I could take the vacuum gauge out of my Benz and hook it to the oil check tube to get a reading. With the old CDR the needle didn't even move on my gauge. With the new CDR...(drumroll please) the needle didn't even move on my guage.

So I'm thinking my guage isn't sensitive enough because it's in Inches of mercury.... and from what I just now read the pressure is only 2 inches of mercury.... so I didn't really test anything...

Does that sound correct to you? I suppose I have to pickup some vinyl tubing and try the water test. huh?

Gotta use "water column" or U-Tube manometer. See pics in the above post link.
