Hey I am going to put a #9 calibration resistor in my truck I searched previous threads on this topic and found that you have to get your truck to learn up to the new resistor I couldnt really find a sure way of doing this on an obd1 truck though could some one tell me how?
How much power can I really expect and will the truck smoke alot more after I do this.

Just drive it, every 50 key starts the PCM is supposed to relearn itself from what I have read. In my suburban it didn't make a big difference other than when I punch the throttle now I get a big cloud of black smoke that I didn't have with the #5:cool2: . But I would definately get a pyrometer, I see 1150F with just a banks stinger(air filter and exhaust) and a #9 resistor.

You only move up .5 mm3 per number of resistor. That's half a cubic millimeter of fuel - taint much.

I was told it would bump the fuel up about 6% so I guess that would be about right. For relearn do you have to start the truck or could it be 50 key on key off cycles without starting?

I believe it is 50 key start cycles or cold starts to warm-up, I am not really certain. But it wasn't a really noticable difference other than more smoke on throttle stab:cool2: .
