OK my tires are finally worn out. I have h2 wheels/tires. I cant mount my front mudflaps because the tires rub and tear them off. I want to mount a tire that is as tall or almost as tall as the h2 but less wide ( Im thinking they wont rub ???)
I still have my stock wheels and tires. Would I be better off putting 295/75/16 bfg's on the stock (11.5 wide 33.2 high offset?) or would it be better to run the 285/70/17 on the h2 wheels (12 wide 34.5 tall offset?). Which would give me the max height and no rubbing and NO crowning of the tire.
OR
If you have another option with the 2 sets of wheels I own let me know. I like the bfg's and I got 60k miles out of them.

I know Nitto makes a 295/70/17, but figure about 35k out them
BF has 285/70/17
Oops, didn't read the whole thing 285s on the H2s is better than squeazing 295s on the stockers

So would a 17 inch wheel with 285's be less tall/same/or taller then the 16's with 285/295.
I want tall but not wide I guess. What about the wheel offset? Which rim would make the tires not rub while turning allowing me to mount my mudflaps?

A 285 on 17 is 1.7" less in height & .5" in width than what you have now.
A 295 on 16 is almost a 1/2" taller & 1/2" wider than a 285 on 16/17
Smallest recommended rim for any of the 16s is 7.5", plenty of people have them on stockers, but theres a reason why the company recommends minium wheel width.

255/85/16 is a 33" tall tire and is a good fit for the stock wheels. Not as common as some of the other sizes though, so your brand selection is limited.

Depends what brand you go with & how much noise you can put up with.
My personal favorite is Toyos open country M/T, for the sizes you want they make a 285 load range E. Probably going to run atleast $200
