According to an article I found in Autospectator re: 2006 Duramax specs, http://www.autospectator.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1688

* Maximum injection pressure increased from 23,000 psi to more than 26,000 psi
* Fuel delivered via higher-pressure pump, fuel rails, distribution lines and all-new, seven-hole fuel injectors

Is this supposed to address the past injector problems? - I emailed GM asking if they could provide any specific info on the new injectors. Their response..."We have completed our research on your request. Supplier information is not disclosed unless it is specifically advertised by GM."

I guess this is supposed to make me feel better. I just kinda wanted to know if these "all new injectors" were of a similar design to anything else out there with a proven track record.

My diesel mechanic told me last year that GM was working on a new injector to fix all the issues.. figures they put it in the 06.. lol

If they put it in the 06 and it works, maybe they can retrofit the older ones. I'm going to remain sceptical on a fix for now though...

I read that the newer injectors use a lower voltage - less heat allows them to eliminate the fuel cooler. Based on what I have read, there is no way the new injectors would work in the lly.

Frankly, there are alot of changes. That combined with reading a post from someone who works in the plant - makes me think I'd wait before jumping in.... He said the reason they are not bumping power up until end of year is due to a problem with a supplier. Wonder which part isn't up to snuff for 360 hp...

I would think the new ones will be higher voltage = less amps = less heat. Just a guess mind you. Later! Frank

With the lower voltage, they will probably use more amperage to actuate the injector under higher pressure... Just a guess also.

Most of the heat is not geneerated by the electrical actuation of the injectors but by the pressure generated from the pressure pump.
Anyone know if they will be using piezo type injectors....?

Existing LLY injectors are 7 hole.

And yes, heat is made at the pump, not the injector coil. More pressure = more heat.
