I just got my Juice/attitude in my 2005 CC, running on 2x5 I notice alot of smoke (black) when I get on it, I assume this is normal and is it because of the low boost being set on 5. Just wanted some feedback

Pretty darn normal. Mine smokes like a freight train when I put my foot into it.

Do you have exhaust, or anything? I noticed mine didn't smoke as much when I put on my new exhaust! But its pretty normal!

Normal! Black smoke is fuel that has not completely burnt.

Do you have the latest version from edge? 1.2? I found it doesn't really smoke at all.

Why do you all use low boost...give it more air!, burn the diesel better and it wont smoke so bad.

I use low boost to offset the turbo lag, mostly. Otherwise, I use low boost to smoke ricers and other not so fast cars!

I have stock exhaust and am running version 1.2, I use the low boost to also try and help offset the turbo lag. ):h

ooo ok I get what you are saying.
I think my turbo has a problem...it sounds like metal on metal contact...like a fin is scrapping the housing (not possible I dont think) anyone know what this might be?

You can make contact between the wheel and housing. Putting your turbo into surge, or "Barking" the turbo will do just that. Over time if you surge it enough it will wear on the thrust bearing and the main shaft bearings, and push the compressor wheel into the housing.

What's "barking" it?

barking is after you do a break stand and let off quickly instead of rolling out of the throttle it makes a sound kinda like "water being swated in the turbo" but its the extra PSI's left in the intake that is comming back into the turbo housing and forces the turbo to stop or slow really fast. correct me if I am wrong.

I do alot of break stands but I try to prevent barking...I went to Ed bozarths and they said they have " never heard such a sound and have no clue what that could be...so bring it in and we will replace it" I am going to be running on 35PSI until this thing blows or cant handle the FUN! lol

Is this the factory turboe or ATS?

oh and I also found if you are crusing around 35mph and hold the brakes almost like you want to do a break stand and mash the throttle it will pour black smoke..once it starts to smoke for a few seconds let off the brake and your turbo will be closed to all the way spooled and the black smoke will role out! I smoked a whole line of gear heads on their little power trip ride! (pedal bikers) It almost scared me how much thick black smoke came out. Good times! lol
I tryed this at the intersection of 30 Road and I-70 B in GJ and the tires broke loose on the concrete, scared the crap out of me!...tell me if you see my marks!

You might throw a code while overboosting, try pulling the edge off & see if the turbo still makes noise. Ultimately if you bring it in messed up, their going to blame you. Going in with worn out back tires isn't a good idea, if they are like that.

good point, I could use a set of rear tires. Ok I unplugged edge and it still makes the sound. It isnt unbarable but it turns heads when it idles. I havnt noticed any power differences.
I called the stealer and they siad bring it in tommarow morning and I will be able to pick it up tommarow night. And they will pick up the tab. So i guess I will just take it to them.
