Hi all!

Well, I've probably got the funniest 6.5 ever built... It still cranks slow although better with my new battery cables, and the dash volt meter is all over the place... BUT - and this is the topic - once I get it started it will run like a thing posessed!

All I've done is remote mounted the PMD with a no 7 resistor (thanks Bill H!) and It feels like the rig is chipped! When I start rolling it will shift almost immediately to 2nd and catapults away. I sometimes get as little as 280 miles per tank and uphill this thing will not downshift, just races along even pulling 5000lbs.

Can a PMD affect performance this way, i.e. could my old PMD as it was failing downgrade performance? I have searched most PMD threads and most guys seem to argue that the PMD works or it doesn't.

Another input here is that my wastegate solenoid quit a while ago, not receiving a signal from the computer, and I run the Turbomaster at less than 7psi as measured on guage.

Is my entire ECM freaking out? This is scary - but I love it!

I doubt the PMD could make that much difference unless there was something wrong other than the typical intermittent issues. The resistor has done nothing at this point and will not do anything until it is forced to learn so we can rule that out.

Hi Kennedy!

Well, you've certainly seen one or two busted PMDs so I'll have to agree. My old PMD stalled the truck once, or rather the truck stalled once and it MIGHT have been the PMD. That was years ago. Truck ran great (IMO back then - cannot be compared to today's performance) but then one morning on the driveway it was stone dead, and a new PMD got it started. So that ol' one could have been a weird one...

While I was doing all the work with the new battery cables and PMD the ECM was disconnected for quite some time. Maybe that was good for the thing, hehe to have a day off after 10 years. I also put ground cables all over the place, so I wonder if just a general boost in voltage could make the electronics perform better. If you feed an amplifier with too less power, it sure can't amplify properly - maybe the same goes for a PMD or ECM. What do I know. It has come as a welcome surprise no matter what has caused it.

My pal's 400hp Edged LLY does not seem as awesome anymore, an old 6.5 can still be FUN to drive!
