Just wondering if anyone has had a Duramax engine completely replaced due to failure of injectors or fuel system causing extended damage to the engine. If so, was it waranty work, or not?

Someone just paid $12K for a new engine at 280 something K miles. Even with a little break in cost, thats still a new Hyundia Sonata!!!

Good question, but have only seen 2-3 on here say that they got a new engine under warranty and 1 had to pay per above.

Let's see what replies you get.

I know of 2 engine replacements under warranty. Both were totally destoyed. One was here at the local dealer and failed due to a camshaft bolt falling out. The other was a co-worker with what he believed was the end breaking off an injector and wrecking the engine.

I believe SoCal also had his replaced due to an injector that stuck open and burned a hole through one of the pistons. It was covered under warranty, but not until his dealer fought GM stating the larger tires weren't the cause of it..... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

Know about one that was injector related and under warranty. Know of another that blew a hole in the top of one piston because of an injector. That was repaired without engine replacement under warranty.

The one in Texas is ongoing right now and is costing about $12,000 out of warranty. It's failure is also related to the fuel system.
