I was looking at my truck this morning and noticed that the door is opening too far. My truck is only about 4 months old. The hinge was not pressed together right and the stop on the hinge is not engaging and is allowing the door to open too far. Now the chrome strip is cracked and there is a large dent in my door. I don't think the door has seen any abuse or anything that would cause this. It looks like a defect of the hinge. This sucks. New truck and already dented. The dealer says that all they can do is body fill sand and paint. I think I will just get the door chrome strip replaced and maybe try to get the dent minimized. I don't want them sanding and painting my new truck.

Anyhow, just a heads ups for you guys. My hinge stop was not catching the door. The piece that is supposed to stop it just goes over top. I am not even sure how they are going to fix the hinges. Can they be replaced? The dealer says that he will have to talk to the regional rep. I will know more on Friday.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Re sanding ~ I feel your pain. Guess you didn't see them prep for your rhino liner installation?

Ther is a chain in Colorado called DENT MASTERS. I watched them pop a dent out of my extended door. It was amazing. You can not even tell it was there. They had a rolling tool cart which contained all sorts of long rods with dohickys on the end. They remove whateveer it takes to gain acsess from the back of the dent. Then tap, tap, tap. Over 85 taps just to remove a very small dent in my door. You can not even tell where it it was 6 months later.

Paintless dent repair can fix the dent if it is not too bad. My truck had a small dent over the driver side rear wheelwell when it was delivered to the dealership. They have a paintless dent repair man that comes into the dealership every Friday for dent repairs. He popped it right out and you can't tell it was ever there.

At 4 months old I'd be looking for more then a Bondo job on my truck. Perhaps you should talk to someone at the dealership with a bigger name plate. That's a pretty crappy attitude for them to take.
