So after reading for hours on end it seems in the newer trucks, 09-10, the TCM records max Torque and Hp and the stealer could use that to deny a warranty claim.. We can swap the ECM, but can we swap the TCM also? Havent found anything on Dp about doing that.

Are other year models compatible?
Where is the TCM?
Do we have any options for the TCM?

I am vary knowledgable about the Duramax and diesel in general but know nothing about the TCM. Banks says the harness box can not be traced, but what about the TCM? Banks reps all play stupid when i ask this question...

Quite dissapointed in the towing power of my LMM and the mileage, exploring my options. I have 4 years left on the powertrain and even purchased a 5yr- 100k bumper to bumper extended warranty also. I have no problem paying to fix something I or my mods break, but you always hear all the stories of the stealer refusing to warranty something totally unrelated to a MOD they dont like. And now with all the talk of GM looking at the ECM or TCM, they make me feel like they are looking for an excuse to deny warranty work. I do not race or Hot rod my truck in any way,
I just want to know all my options and their consequences before I decide what mods I am going to do.

Yes you can use another TCM but has to be programmed by a GM Tech II scanner tool at this time. EFILive cannot write to the 2009 and 2010 TCM at this time. If it is blank I do not know if EFILive can program a blank TCM at this time. EFILive can modify 2008 or older TCMs but can not do a full flash only a cal flash to them due to the time it takes to do a full flash of the OS to them.

TCM is located up on the fan shroud at least in 2007.5 they were.
2006 to 2008 TCMs differ from the 2009 and 2010 TCMs

Correct the Banks cannot be traced if removed. But of course it cannot do DPF delete either where some mileage gain can be made. Plus if using banks to increase torque will cause more regen do to more soot build up. So regen count will be higher more than likely. Plus right the TCM will see more power applied to the Allison even though the Banks module systems is fooling all the sensors and so forth. And of course swapping ECM with another with DPF delete will also throw off the regen count as well.

If need a warranty then leave as is to it is up is all I can say.

So far it seems pre 09 has an A40 TCM and 09-10 have an A50. Appears the A50 is the one that has the ability to Log info like torque and hp, unless what I have read is wrong..
Hard to find any info on the TCM.!

Yes to all you said. As to info thats true since EFILive has not fully perfected flashing yet. No idea if they ever will. Last I knew working on finishing V8 software which will allow other features that may help to flash the controller. Only thought is reprogram the ECM and see if it helps. But a high HP tune does create higher EGTs and this of course will kill your towing ability. Setting up a twin turbo system kit does offer more power and lower EGTs for that increase.
