I have attempted to attach two pictures here with arrows pointing to a location I believe I might be missing something. I couldn't get a clear view of this part in the pictures section of the 6.5L TD I found, so perhaps someone can help me out, thanks.

I belive there should be a pastic cap that goes there. 1 for the low side (blue)and 1 for the high side (red) I think those are the colors. Shouldn't cause any problems by not having on there, they just keep dirt for clogging the fitting. Auto parts may have some cheap or just put a piece of tape over them.

And lose that "Turbo Power" cover.

For those that wonder about the "loose the cover" comment, several recommend that as a way to reduce PMD fails by unleashing trapped heat, the cover does look neat though, now that my PMD is remote mounted becoming a remote FSD; I was considering putting it back on, but with quick disconnect fasteners so I can still access top of the engine for easy fuel filter change and inspections

Changing a fuel filter when the cover is on, you forgot to put the toolbox in the truck, you're on the side of the interstate, it is cold, it is dark and it is raining is not very fun. Don't ask me how I know this......

Quick disconnect fastners? Who wudda thunk it. Can you be more specific? I think I know where I might have stored my cover....

I was planning on removing the cover. There are a lot of other things I need to get to as well. Right now the truck is sitting in my driveway. The drive back from Tennessee was good, no major issues that I know of, but now she sits until I can get to everything.

So you are saying that the threaded hole does not serve a purpose for my truck. If I just cover it with tape or match the threads and put a screw in there I am ok? Thanks,

I was thinking I have a drill press, get me some metric studs, drill a hole in the stud and put in hitch pins, pull pins & viola easy on/off turbo cover.

Also add a frame rail pre filter and on engine filter problems darn near never happen, add a vacc switch to tell you when DP across both fiters is high & you get an alarm for filter before it becomes a major problem.

It's purpose is so you or a A/C shop can re-fill the system with freon or vacumm the freon out for service, etc... the caps just help to keep dirt out. I would either see if the auto parts stores have some or a piece of tape. I don't think a screw would hurt anything but I don't know for sure.

Now it makes sense. I just had no idea why it would be there if the only reason was to put a cap over it to keep dirt out? :)
Thanks for elaborating.

By the way, I'm removing the engine cover tonight. No worries!

excellent move on removing the turbo diesel cover...after i removed mine, i had far less problems with my truck not starting...and I KNOW the PMD was on it's way out...the Georgia heat and engine heat finally killed it last summer.

I would go get the right cap and forget the screw idea
