Hi! I'm looking to purchase a monitor for a 2006 Express Diesel van. Am interested in a gauge that can display average fuel economy accurately. Also, RPM, Water temp, Transmission temp and Oil temp.

Appreciate reading of your experiences. Svcangauge 2 and Edge look good, although I see no average fuel economy for the Edge Insight, CS or CTS. If it can't do that, I would prefer the Scangauge 2.

Pics of your monitor would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I spoke with an Edge rep today. The Insight has no provision for average fuel mileage.

ScanGauge 2 has that feature. I found something similar to SG2, called Ultragauge. It's not really for modified Vans that may need EGT and Boost gauges. It will give you Tach, Engine Coolant Temps & Average Fuel Economy amongst other things. There website has a list based upon the vehicle application. It's reasonably priced at $59.99.

Here is an excellent thread about it at cleanmpg: http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34321

The Edge CS and CTS is not set up for Dmax van yet. I talked to them just a couple of days ago about what PIDS to have. For average fuel mileage you could just use a pencil and piece of paper or a calculator.

I think I am going to go ahead and get the Ultragauge. It's about $77 with shipping minus a $9 rebate. For $68 it's a pretty good deal.

I will have to manually calculate fuel economy just to check the accuracy of the gauge.

Tha gauge will give instantaneous as well as average fuel economy. Both come in handy.

Here is another link on YouTube showing one freshly installed: YouTube - Initial Plug in

i velcroed a scangauge on the dash, and tucked the wire along the side of the dash, down to the obd port.

my main reason for getting the scangauge was to be able to read and clear codes. but its nice that it acts as a gauge too.

Thanks for the pics! The gauge looks good. I'll have the UltraGauge soon and look forward to getting it mounted, set-up and calibrated.
