I'm trying to ID my gooseneck hitch. The shop that installed it a few years ago before I bought the truck is a couple hundred miles away. I'm looking into getting a fifth wheel adapter and need to verify what I have first.

It has a square, removable ball similar to the B&W setup. However, the rail mounts have Cequent printed on them. I've searched to no avail to find the hitch on any of Cequent's websites and all of their current removable ball setups have round shanks. Also, the ball socket is 4" dia and is located 48" from the back edge of the bed.

Here is a picture of the side plate and handle.

I'll get pictures of the ball and hitch head tomorrow.

My main concern is can I use a B&W Companion with this hitch? Would I be better off going with the Cequent released 'Companion' copy hitch?

Thanks guys

Yours is cequent, they make drawtite, and Reese. B&w should fit, but this one will according to the manufacturer.

I've seen that hitch online, but have yet to find the matching square shank Cequent hitch.

The B&W has been around for a while with good reviews and seems to be a few pounds lighter than the Cequent version.

Either way, does anyone have any experience with the Cequent branded adapter?

I have no experience with it but that is the one made by cequent. It includes both adapters round and square. cequent no longer uses their name, they list everything under one of their subsidiary's.
"5th-Wheel hitch adapter sits in ball hole of gooseneck hitch
1 Round, adjustable-height post included for use with Bulldog, Draw-Tite and Reese goosenecks
1 Square, adjustable-height post included for use with B&W gooseneck"

Yea, I noticed the whole Cequent/branding thing. My only concern is the fact that I cannot find a Cequent mfg gooseneck hitch with the square shank listed to verify that their fifth-wheel adapter can fit. However, if their fifth wheel hitch fits the B&W, it may be reasonable to assume that the Companion will fit the gn hitch that I already have.

I would like to get the companion since it is lighter weight and with a SRW truck I am watching pin weight closely.

Maybe easier to find someone with a companion and just try it. I'm not sure you will get an awnser. Maybe post measurements of your insert, and see what someone with a b&w has.

I found an rv place locally that carries the B&W so I'll just see if they have one put together already.
