Okay guys,
been reading this forum for a week now and relaized there is alot more info you guys provide and need to answer questions. I like it. I have some questions with more specific info that you may be able to narrow down some answers for me.
I just bought a new 2005 2WD HD 4-dr auto. I will be hauling a 30' race car trailer with a Top Dragster, tools, and fuel (about 10k lbs) every other weekend for about 6 months out of the year in the Texas heat. The rest of the time will be driving in Dallas area unloaded.
I do not want to ruin an Allison automatic, would do some small mods for cooling, but have heard wonderful things about mileage and driveability with a programmer (I am looking at the Bully "pup"). What do you guys think?
I have also noticed that in normal driving and the trans gauge reads about 200, is this normal?
My fan kicked on for the first time today in stop-and-go traffic at about 205 degrees.
Thanks in advance.

By the way what does IAT & ECT stand for?

What motor in the dragster?
Predator ranks high with me.
200 seams to be a little high if thats Empty. Had a guy send me some pics of having lowered the cooler down a couple of inches. Put it in better air flow location.

The "JJ full frontal seal" will help a little with the alley temp, but will help a ton on the coolant temp. Also invest in the lower valance and air box mods. I don't think anybody is disappointed with any of these mods.

IAT = intake air temp. Normally read from Tech2 or Predator
ECT = engine coolant temp also better reading it from Tech2 or Predator
GM has tried to mask the overheating problems by recalibrating the gauge signals

I would like to see some picks of the "full frontal". My first tank of fuel was 16.6 hand calculated, driving on avg around 70. Looking at purchasing the Predator, are there any "latest versions" that I want to be looking at?

By the way the motor is 565 cubic inches.

I drive the Dallas daily traffic unloaded at ~75 mph when able and the trans is normally inbetween 150 and 200. The fan kicked on for me too today, but it was pretty flippin' hot today too. Sounds like everything is normal so far.

I am in Fort Worth my fan kick on every day as soon as I fire the engine for the first mile or so. I have a hypertech and it is ok. I wish it would eliminate the turbo lag. I had the quad for about 1,000 miles and returned it. I hated it in my opinion the Hypertech does a better job for reasonable driving. My fuel economy is around 14-15. My 03 is much better in all ways.

The other thing I noticed today was that the oil pressure is only about 25-30 lbs. idleing and 55-60 wide open. Is this normal? I usually like to see alot more oil pressure than that. I am actually in Dallas.

Quadzilla does have a new tune out. Might want to play? They will also give you your money back if not happy. I tried their old tune and it was too touchy. I prefer the Predator and they have a new tune coming out soon.

Oil is a little higher than mine across the board.

I used to play a little too.
