: Diesel prices
wyattroa 08-17-2005, 04:53 PM I was wondering what everyone was paying a gallon right now for diesel. Around me withing the past week the price has gone up from $2.49 a gallon to around $2.80 a gallon. this is getting out of hand. I went to see how much the prices were and they were $2.49 so i put $10 in, thats all i had on me and said i would fill up tomorrow. Well i got there two days later to fill up at the same station and the Price was $2.65 a gallon. I dont think there is any end to this, and they say it will get over $3 here in chicago, i live in western suburbs!

NoWake200 08-17-2005, 06:07 PM I forgot to add....I stoped and looked at Honda Endoro(?) today.....2.5 gal tank and 60+mpg.
In Europe....everyone drives small cars and motorcycles, go figure. And the States indroduce the H3. What a F'n joke.
Redapple 08-17-2005, 06:16 PM I just paid $3.20 in Torrance, Ca. I am looking at getting a Toyota Prius. 60+ as well, 2000 gov rebate/incentive, and as of last week. Arnold just signed ionto law that will allow certain hybrids to use the Carpool/HOV lane with a single occupant. My Redapple may become a weekend warrior... LOL

mannytranny 08-17-2005, 07:07 PM Until people can stop using 10X the vehicle for their need, fuel costs will continue to rise.
I only feel bad for the truckers in this one. Everyone else can suck an egg, because they are the ones that created this "problem."
Gruber 08-17-2005, 07:28 PM Pulled into my regular stop in Paso Robles, Ca. to fill up the truck and boat last Friday. I paid $3.19. My friend filled up in another town nearby for $3.01. I checked my local station I ususally use last night, $3.01. It's getting really expensive to go out of town.
I paid $120 to fill the truck and boat. The guy at the boat dock was $3.45/gal 89 oct.
In may I paid $3.75 for 89 at Topock Gorge on the Colorado river. 89 bucks worth. I may have to take up basket weaving...............
When fuel prices go up, all the more reason to own a diesel!!!
NoWake200 08-17-2005, 10:09 PM If diesel was still .97c a gallon like it was in 1999. Frankly gas or diesel we are paying the price.
CADman_ks 08-17-2005, 10:43 PM How long will the truckers continue to pay the high prices? Are they being adequately compensated for the increase in fuel prices? I would guess not. I'm really surprised that we haven't seen more trucker "uprisings" upto this point, but they have to eat just like the rest of us. Eventually trucked products will start to get higher.
They think that inflation of 1% is bad. I don't think that we've seen anything yet...

tophog 08-18-2005, 12:17 AM The truckers and shipping companies will just pass the extra costs along in fuel surcharges ...in the end the consumer gets the shaft twice ...higher cost of goods and higher gas/diesel prices. Time to break out the 10 speed.
coyotekid 08-18-2005, 12:58 AM OK, manny: I'll agree with you to some extent. As Americans, we tend to overindulge. But exactly why do you need a Duramax? I think you could get along just fine with a 1990 Dodge Cummins that gets better mileage than your 300+HP Dmax.
Don't be a hypocrite...
srode 08-18-2005, 06:02 AM $2.47 here, price dropped a couple pennies yesterday, doubt it will last though, it's going to keep going up I'm sure.
DURASPANK 08-18-2005, 11:42 AM 2.49 SC If it weren't for the power programer.:muahaha: I feel like I should have gotten tha 8.1 for less $$$!!

Everything comes off a truck.....everything.
I would have to say that not every one pays fuel sur-charge. Some companies are better than others. What I am seeing more oh is heavy loads....45,000lbs of payload(temp controlled). But most trucks can only haul 43,000-44,000(temp controlled). Instead of having 20 loads at 40,000 they are getting it on 18 trucks instead, saving themselves 2 truck loads. But when trucks like mine show up we usually have to go back and take a pallet off. This is a waist of my time and money.
Record profits for Exxon/Mobil......to bad trucking companies have to take a loss so they can make there profit!
