My dad bought a 22,000lb track drill and was wondering what truck he could use to pull it besides going all out to a class 8 truck. I do have a class A cdl but the extra insurance and licensing does not make sense for us being the truck will be used to transport the drill once a month or so. Can we get away with like a 5500 kodiak and a gooseneck trailer? 6500? Any ideas? The trailer will prob weigh another 6-7,000 lbs too so it gets heavy pretty quick.

30,000# gross load? You're firmly into class-8 territory at that point IMHO.

Looks like a Class 8 situation. Maybe use a single axle tractor if you have enough wheels under the trailer ( a dual tired tandem 10-11 inch tires). And looks like a commercial operation, need authority, licensed truck/trailer with insurance, and a CDL driver.
Maybe cheaper to contract a hauler if only once a month.

Simply put, I don't think you can get there from here. Like it or not, you're into a heavy class of truck.
