Title pretty much says it all. I'm wondering if that is where my extra oil in the steering system is coming from.

In a way, yes...your power steering fluid goes though the "hydroboost" unit that is directly behind the master cylinder...
Having said that, are you thinking that the brake fluid is getting into your power steering pump? If so, that isn't normal at all.....

That's about the only thing I could think of. Could there be a seal leaking in the hydroboost unit? If so, what does it take to repair?

Last night I had some time and removed the cap from the PS res. Good thing I had some rags around it. I checked the level and it was normal. Started it and ran it for abut 5 minutes. Rechecked the level and it is now very low. Still on the stick but low. Master cylinder level was dead on full like it has always been. The cap appears to have some sort of check valve built into it by the way the spring under the cap looks. Could this cap be bad and not allow enough pressure release from the res.? Should there be much of a pressure build up in the res.? Should I be able to blow thru the end of the stick? I've got a 800 mile trip this weekend that I would like to not have to worry about issues while gone.

Power steering fluid expands and contracts depending on temp, try to check cold(ambient temp) and do not overfill, it'll leak out

The part that is most puzzliing is the fact that I have not had to add a drop of fluid to the PS since the day I bought it 3 years ago. What would cause it to now be an issue? Maybe it is just a one time thing. The one thing that is still confusing to me is the fact that there is some pressure when I remove the cap. Should there be any pressure? I understand that there could be some because of the fluid expanding from being cold to hot, but when the cap is removed hot, then replaced, it will create pressure after running 5-10 minutes. Could I possibly have something going wrong with the pump itself?
