: Experineced Bio Guy here
wagspe208 02-16-2011, 12:32 AM I have been making bio and running it for a few years. I started with little help and a book. I did a few things wrong in the beginning. Now, I have excellent bio.
I'd be happy to help anyone out if they have questions.
I have an "appleseed" style processor. Cone tank for washing and drying. 55gal drum with pump for finished product.
If you have questions you can post it here, but I don't check in very often. PM me is a quicker way. I ceretainly don't know it all. I know more than a little, though.
My experience has been with Potassium Hydroxide, not Sodium Hydroxide. Potassium H is much easier to work with IMO. I also have good source of lightly used oil. Not burger joint crap.

Diesel Wanna Be 02-23-2011, 03:59 AM You making enough to sell some? I've got a buddy up in Fairview Heights making it too, but he can't get enough oil to have surplus for sale.

i'm new to biodiesel, what do you mix together to make it and how do you process it?

nice! thanx man. do you know measurments?
Rockin C Racing 03-05-2011, 09:19 PM Measurements vary depending on titration levels. Check out the link above.
tan lly 03-05-2011, 09:33 PM to get a bio prosessor can they be made easily on my own or do you recommend buying a kit from a company that makes the prosessor

They can be pretty easily made. Meaning if you have a little mechanical ability and know how to screw some pipes together.. bingo.
If you have more money than time... buy one. If you want to make batches fast, maybe buying one is a good option. If you want good fuel without spending 5g, build one. So, really depends on desired results.
I built mine. I might have 1g in it. It is pretty nice (for a built piece). I have seen similar setups sell for 2500 to 3500.
Or.... you may look at used setups from some of the bio forums. Like anything.. when people get out, stuff is cheaper than doing it all yourself.

flyinelvis11 03-06-2011, 09:36 PM subscribed. what do you run in winter? a blend of some sort i would guess?
wagspe208 03-06-2011, 10:56 PM In winter temperature and feed stock (oil source) dictates how much bio you can run. I don't make much in the winter. My processor area is not heated, so a PITA to do in winter. My buddy has run 15% on some cold days when I swore I would be towing him home.
You can put your bio in the freezer and check it every few minutes to see if it has gelled. Check the temp of the gelled bio and know that is where 100% bio would freeze.

tan lly 03-07-2011, 11:08 AM when its cold would you be able to run additive to keep the bio from jelling or doesnt that work with the bio diesel

wagspe208 03-11-2011, 04:14 PM Anti-gelling agents will work with bio. I just never made enough in the winter to bother with any testing.

Up at the top is the book I started with. Titration section was a little confusing to me at first. Good source of info.
bigfellastrain 03-15-2011, 03:02 PM I won't go above 5% in the winter , but it can get to 40F below 0.
Rockin C Racing 03-15-2011, 09:50 PM I run 100% most of the time. I do however watch the temps in the winter and if the temps are forecasted to drop below 30*F I will blend it to B60. The coldest we typically see for 1 or 2 weeks in the winter is high teens for overnight lows and at B60 in the teens it doesn't have any problems.
As for the processor, I agree that if you have the ability and time to make one, that is probably the better route. I did purchase mine. I have the ability to make one, but I have absolutely zero time, so I spent $3000 to purchase mine and am happy with it and the results.
wagspe208 03-15-2011, 10:08 PM Great! Which one did you guy?
Was it all they promised it would be?

Cool!
Do you do 3/27 tests to confirm quality, or is that not necessary with "real" processors?
What pump is on the system? Model #. How many gallons is the fuelmeister 2?
