: Help with cargo express van side door
sokoservices 02-14-2011, 05:46 PM I have a 2005 express cargo 2500hd van and the side double door the left hand door that you open after you open the right is every hard to open. Almost like the hindges are binding.. Which is what I think is wrong with the door. I have sprayed everything you can think of on it and no dice. The van has never been in an accident and the door looks square.
How do I fix the door?
Thanks
SOKO
Joey D 02-14-2011, 07:41 PM You need to drill the hinge and spraythe hole while working the door.
I will snap a pic of where to drill later for you.
It's on the stationary part of the hinge and drill in till you hit the pin
sokoservices 02-14-2011, 07:49 PM Please take a pic for me. As the body shop wants to cut the hindges off and weld new ones on.... Crazy expensive....
ShopSpecialties 02-14-2011, 08:30 PM Also hit the pin up and down while spraying lube.
jlane330 02-15-2011, 01:33 PM I'm interested in pics too... mine did the same thing last year. PAIN to open, it was really hanging, and no amount of spraying seemed to help. After a few months of using it it finally got a bit better, but still isn't quite right. The body on these vans really could be better...

They dont sell direct!
salsorrentino100 02-18-2011, 11:34 PM Try ebay: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=van+hinge+kit&_sacat=See-All-Categories
jlane330 02-20-2011, 08:42 PM I'll just pop my stock pins out and clean/lube those. Shouldn't be too hard and with regular maintenance, I'm guessing they'll be fine in my dry environment...
Joey D 02-21-2011, 11:59 PM The holes are at the tip of the pen. The drill bit is the size of a plastic spray tip on most cans of WD 40

A Townee, Live here long?
turboawd 03-06-2011, 06:25 PM My doors were seizing up, and I pounded the pins out, cleaned them, and greased them. That was a couple years ago. Now they are getting stiff again. I bought a set of the greaseable pins and will be changing them out soon.
sokoservices 03-06-2011, 08:23 PM Found that my bottom pin is completely seized up and cant pound it out. Ive tried everything in the tool box and a few new tools..... What is the best way to remove these that are seized in place? I have been shooting it with Kroil and many other rust breakers but no luck.

mine were a pain in the ass too.
i held a scrap piece of 1/4 inch plywood against the body to prevent damage, and used a sledge and hammer repeatedly to get them out.
or try the method of drilling a hole and soaking the pin.
if that dont work, you can try and heat the hinge with a torch and pound on the pins. will have to repaint the hinges though.
worse case scenario, get a dremel or other thin cutoff wheel, and cut the pin. will need to cut twice on each hinge, right along where the bushing is.
ShopSpecialties 03-06-2011, 10:59 PM Hit it harder ! Have you tried a air hammer yet ?
sokoservices 03-07-2011, 02:05 PM Air Hammer CHECK
Pipe to suppot the hindge and hit with 10lb sledge hammer and metal stock CHECK
Brass pin and sledge hammer CHECK
This pin is not comming out.
