I'm truely new to the diesel game, so I'm trying to pick up on a few of the performance modifications. I don't understand the function of the programmers discussed throughout many of the previous threads. How do they function?, what variables on the engine do they alter?, what sytems do they monitor? I have a fully adjustable PowerCommander programmer on my SportBike, Do they may such a beast for my Duramax. Something that lets me plug in my laptop and layout my own fuel curves. Thanks for any kind of a better understanding you'll can provide.

No, they dont make anything that lets you screw with your own stuff. Its probably better that way since people could get into ALOT of trouble in a hurry with a computer controlled diesel. Tons of variables to play with.

Some programs bump up the fuel pressure. Most just alter when the injector squirts fuel in there and how long to squirt it for. The programs for the newer dmaxes also play with the turbo since its all computer controlled.

Certian programers(like the edge juice with the attitude monitor) will show you lots of different bits of data about your truck like converter slip and engin temp TPS ect but the programers them selves look at all the data from all the engin senors ect to figure out what they need to do.

:welcome2: Take a few minutes to fill out your profile a bit so we know what year truck you have and other mods ect so we can better answer your Q as it relates to your truck :)
