Anyone have experience with the Michelin XC LT4's in 265/75r16E configuration? My Generals were replaced on saturday because all 4 were out of round at 27k miles (plenty of tread left!). Seems from my research that the XC LT4's are the exact same spec and tread pattern as the LTX M/S tires (maybe the XC LT4's are made specifically for sears?) These are rated for 50k miles in LT use.

So far they ride better all around, are quiet and perform much better on wet roads. :)

I had a set on a Toyota Tundra which is the truck I had before the Dmax. I too got them at Sears and was told they were the same as the LTX. Only had about three thousand miles on them but liked them. Smooth ride, good traction and was expecting good wear. I have the LTX M/S on my truck now.

I've got 35000 miles on my 265/75/r16E. Run true, but have them rotated and balanced 5000 to 7500 miles. First set would not balance out, and after 4 weeks and 2000 miles, Sears replaced the entire set. Have nothing but good work from Sears on tires.

However, next set will probably be D rated. E rated are a little rougher ride than what was on the truck when I bought it used. But it sure is nice when I tow my TT. Looks exactly the same as the LTX patter, just badged for Sears.

How do these tires perform in snow? The tread does not look very agressive. -Keith

Don't get enough snow to know. But it handles the mud fairly well. Don't drive much off road, except to fish or work, so the mud is not too nasty but have never been stuck.

Noreaster, I got 7 years time in the USMC that says you may or don't have to buy whatever you want. But your opinion was not required.

To each their own, buy what you want as you said you will. Personally, I wouldn't touch Michelens as they are French owned. Also, I have 32 years as a tax payer......

RE: Michelin LTX; a previous post on a tire survey, an owner said these tires were " horrible in any kind of snow".

So there Franco owned. Isn't this a world economy? Your truck is not 100% American made. What tire these days is not foregn owned? Isn't it just the Goodyear family?

==========
Firestone is owned by Bridgestone, a Japanese company.

Michelin owns BF Goodrich and Uniroyal, and makes those tires. Most of the truck tires sold in the USA are made in South Carolina or other USA locations

General is owned by Continental, a German company.

Goodyear is American, as is Cooper, but you must read the sidewalls to see where they are made.

Yohohama? Nitto? Japanese.

Nokian? Finnish brand, but most of their truck tires sold in the USA are made for them by Cooper in Ohio.

Pirelli? An Italian company, but read the sidewalls to see where the actual tire is made.

Dunlop? I believe it is owned by Sumitomo, a Japanese Company. Goodyear makes Dunlop tires in North America, while Sumitomo makes Goodyears in Japan.

Hankook and Kumho? South Korean.

If you don't buy a Michelin and buy something else, you may be hurting some good ol' boy down in South Carolina and giving a job to some third world fellow earning $10 a day.

I don't mind buying foreign made products, as you said, it's a global economy, and very little is pure US made. Note that I have REVOs on mine. Many folks just don't want to help out a French owned company. I quit buying their wine too.

xv, thanks for the correction! So if you want a tire made in the USA you need to buy Cooper.
