This year at tomah ntpa decided to have a 3.0 class. Are best chance to get this class really going in ntpa is to have a good number of trucks. 15-20 trucks would be ideal. But i want everyone thats coming to really read the rules good, because they are very picky and dont let anything slide. This is a great pull, and hope we can put on a show so we get invited back. If anyone has any questions about the pull or rules feel free to ask me.

You have to go to a tech offical and have your flywheel/clutch and turbo inspected and certified.

Wow! The ten bucks just to see the rules seemed strange. But to have to remove your clutch and flywheel

It doesn't necesarily have to be removed, but you would have to hope they could see through the inspection hole or remove the shaft and the bell housing so they can see the numbers stamped on all the plates and flywheel. They stress safety and that is the only way to prove people have the SFI parts...

It is easier on you if you have it inspected when removed during the off season or before you put it in the truck...

We pull friday and sat. I know the rule book thing sucks but its the way they do it. Dont plan on coming and having them try and inspect your clutch and flywheel there i did it that way one year made it hard on everyone. If you look on there website it has a list of tech people im sure theres on close by its not a big deal.

We just recieved a bunch of entry forms today. Looks like 5 hooks for sure in our area if not more. There is a clutch inspector that lives pretty close to us and suggested that we set up a time before the season starts and he will come and inspect them all at once.

NTPA is the biggest and best league to run with i am sure its a big change from your local Brush league pulling with few rules to follow. After the way the trucks ran at NFMS indoors a few weeks back ist gonna take some work to get the die hard tractor fans to like trucks and this is good step towards doing that

What was so bad about the way the trucks ran at the NFMS?? I watched the videos and a couple friends were there.... I heard about the Ohio Cat broken front axle and got sideways, but that is a hell of a lot better than a 4010 axle housing breaking and shooting a tire and housing towards the crowd....

I was there and they just took so long compared to the tractors. Seemed like half the trucks broke (exageration but seemed that way), one couldn't even keep it running to move the sled. I know it can and does happen with the tractors, but just seemed like the trucks held up the show in comparison.

From what I was told by NTPA Independence, Dubuque, Norwalk, Tomah two hooks, and two others but he couldn't say until contracts are back

Do you mean its going to take some work to get the tractor PULLERS to like trucks? Cause diesel pickups will have just as big as a fan base if not bigger.

Well everyone has their take on this last i knew was 10,000 lb pro stocks are the main draw still so maybe that will change in a few years. Tomah will shows us what you all can really do and thats what i been wanting to see for a while

In my honest opinion, there is nothing that compares to a 10,000 Pro Stock winding it up and going down the track... Don't get me wrong, all are fun to watch, but the Prostocks thump...

I feel like the 3.0 trucks put on a better show. The ITPA class will have 10-12 trucks within 15 feet or less of each other every night and usually with no breakage. The modified trucks seem to be to tempermental, too many ether can't keep it lit, bounce or break something. I won't argue when they run good they are cool to watch, just not consistant enough for Louisville.

I checked with NTPA head tech for MN and the clutch and flywheel has to be removed and inspected. For non NTPA members it's $50 to have it done. They also need to visually inspect the inside of the bellhousing.

O.K. So i would probably have to drive 2-3 hours to get my clutch, fly wheel & can inspected pay the man 50 bucks drive back home while putting a couple hundred dollars in my truck for fuel. And waste most of the day when i should be working.

Can you check around and see if there is anyone who techs in your area to save you some driving time? What town do you live and I will ask the tech I know to see what he can come up with.

The 3.0 class is growing really fast, and are best shot to get into bigger money pulls is to get in with ntpa, And tomah is are chance, we need trucks and need everything to go smooth. They want to make a big points race for iowa, mn, Wi, IL but we have to show them were worth it this summer.

Yeah, it is kind of a pain in the a$$, but there is probably a guy within 1-2 hours of you... But where esle can you go pull at a 2 day show and have an opportunity at $1100 if you win both hooks...

$2,250 purse at the regional shows and $2,650 or $2,850 for both Tomah hooks...

what is there turbo rules as far as MWE or is it smooth bore? and is it 3x3? just out of curiosity

JB CRETE
03-07-2011, 09:53 PM
All vehicles are limited to a single turbocharger with an inducer bore in the compressor housing no larger than 3.0 inches measured at the smallest diameter area of the compressor wheel. Compressor wheel must protrude through housing at least 1/8 inch. All provisions allowing air to the wheel other than via the bore are prohibited. Map enhancement grooves allowed.
