Just replaced the two battery's on the Express.
The under hood was easy and the connections were still nice and free of any corrosion.
The one under the truck was not so lucky. You need to drop the box to get it out of the tray which is easy then undo the hold down. The positive connection looked like it was on the titanic. I had to grind the head off the bolt to save the end on the cable. I still need to replace the end it has rot on it and the end of the cable looks suspect as well.

The positive cable end on my outside battery completely corroded away last year . I replaced both batteries with Optima red tops . The van wouldn't crank at all . I don't know how long the outside battery was "disconnected" but it was dead and the inside battery must have been doing all the work and failed .

Sounds like high resistance if they only lasted a year. In addition to the new cables - be sure the clamp is tight not cracked - and grease it up - with pad underneath - make sure the cables amerage matched to the draw amperage max

I bought a red top last winter when my battery under the can corroded. Then I moved it to the inside behind the drivers seat.

i didnt have to drop the tray. i unclamped the battery, lifted it up and forward over the tray.
the first thing i did when i got the van was seal the cable ends on that battery underneath. no problems yet.
