So I noticed yesterday that my belt is starting to flop around pretty good right after the tensioner. It also makes a weird sound as the motor is running. Hard to identify whether the tensioner or belt or something else. When I give it some throttle just up a couple hundred RPM, the noise ceases and after the truck gets warm noise appears to be gone, just early morning or after sitting. I bought a new belt tonight figuring it had been 60K and it was due,
My Question, Anybody had a belt tensioner go out?

Mine went out and by your explanation it sounds like the same symtoms as mine. I'm on my third one.

Hey Thanks. Did you replace your own or have it done? I will just do it. I have 110K miles now and have not had to replace anything under hood except for injectors and batteries(I only did batteries cause I added M15000 Warn Winch and thought the 4 yr old deals would fail)
Any input would be appreciated. DO you have a P/N handy? Make it simple rather than dealing with knuckleheads at the dealer

I replaced mine too. Very easy to do. Do it yourself and save some $$.

I agree with the above post. It's very easy to do even if you aren't a technician. I'll have to dig up my bill and get you that part #.

Go to the Supporting Vendors section and log on to the GMDieseltech website. They sell them there.

Can you post instructions/photos on how to do it?
