I was just wondering what upgrades are necessary for doing a little pulling for fun once in awhile, mainly with the front end. I know tie rod sleeves are a must, but what other parts should I be looking at? Keep in mind, I only have a 100 hp tune, so its not like I'm putting crazy amounts of power to the ground. Just wanna make a pull or two this year at the local pull for fun and just to see what the truck will do, I've pulled tractors for years and just would like to try my pickup for something different.
Also, what is a good general rule for air pressure? I have no idea what anyone runs. I know everyone is probably gonna have a different number, and it will vary depending on track condition obviously, but where is a good solid base to start from. Local track is all orange clay, usually pretty hard and starts dusting off by the time the trucks pull, but when its cooler or when it retains alot of moisture from rain, etc. its a power track by all means.

Sleeves and braces on the front end is all that you will need. Remember to drop the torsion bars also. 45psi in the rear and around 25 in the front will be a good start. Good luck and have fun!!

I know there a little bit more but I would HIGHLY recommend the rare parts tie rods over sleeves reason I say that is because i see u are from PA and are familiar with salt my SS sleeves locked up on my rods and ended up being junk because we could not get them off I know there about $75 more than sleeves but it might save u alot of trouble and some money down the road just my 2cents on that and second 45-50psi in rear and 25-30 in the fronts is a perfect place to start!!

Drop the tbars down as low as u can go. Learned from experience the hard way. Sleeves and braces do no good if u don't drop the front. 18mm socket is all u need. I use a batt impact at the track, just mark the threads so u can raise it back up to drive home. If u want to go a little farther spring clamps and rear stops aren't too hard to fab up either. But I guess u gotta draw the line somewhere. Lol I can't figure out where to stop. I'm working on a tranny, turbo, efi live, and weight bracket for this year.

sleeves and lower the front end would be the minimum. Have fun

Alright, thanks for all the info guys. Actually, I got my new issue of Diesel Power in the mail today and there is a good article in there about strengthening the front end. Looks like either sleeves or new tie rods, pitman/idler braces, dropping the front all the way, and spring clamps is where I will start. I'd like to go with bigger power at some point, but my tranny is starting to get weak and there are other things that take financial bearing over putting gobs of money in my truck at this point. After a built tranny, I'm looking at going with EFI Live tuning.
