Just brought home my "new to me" 97 Chevy 2500 6.5 TD truck. I will probably be posting lots of questions in the coming weeks, but for now I will stick to this one since it is kind of pertinent.

My windshield wipers only work sometimes. I can't get anything but the intermittent to work right now, and that sometimes doesn't do anything. As far as I can tell, the lever that controls the cruise, wipers and whatnot might be at fault since I can't get the windshield washer to work either. However, the cruise and brights work fine. I don't know where to start, if anyone has a suggestion, please shoot.

On another note, the blower on the climate control will intermittently shutoff. If I jiggle the wires coming out from under the glove box, it will usually kick back on. This is a slight cause for alarm because I don't want my A/C compressor overheating.

Thanks for all suggestions.

99% chance that it is the module on the windsheild wiper motor. It is a very common failure point and can be ordered individually from the dealer for well under $50.

What Max said about the wiper module.

It can get water inside it and go bad.

I THINK there was a recall on it so check with your dealer you may be able to get one for free.

Thanks for the quick answers. That is probably the cause.

FYI, I took the glove box off this evening and was playing with all the wires behind it. There are a lot. I couldn't pinpoint exactly which wires might be the cause, but as I fiddled around the blower would start and stop. I didn't see any bare metal or anything, probably just a bad connection. I hate to say it, but maybe something for a dealership to diagnose, not me??

Thanks again,
Tim
