: HELP! Limp mode w/edge on STOCK!

Ok, I'm going to try to explain this as good as possible.

I have had the truck for about 6 weeks. 2 weeks ago, merging onto the highway at full throttle w/the edge on 5/5 shortly after that I went into limp mode. It's been fine ever since then up until yesterday it did it again, so I turned the edge back down, turned the key forward w/the trans in drive (engine running) then shut it off and waited a min. or two then started it back up and then about 2 miles later just after merging onto the highway it did it again (stock setting). Now today it has done it 5 times, the first time on 5/5 and the rest of the times on stock.

Any suggestions? I just got home and disconnected the batteries so hopefully that will re-set the computer better (i dunno?). I am new to this whole diesel thing.

The thing that is really bugging me about this is that the first 3 or 4 weeks I had the truck I didn't have any problems at all and now ever since I hit limp mode the first time it's just been downhill since.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks

What happens when you are getting 'limp mode'. Is it dropping from fifth down to forth or what exactly are you seeing?

Basically the RPM's drop to 2k and that is as high as it will go, I will try to accellerate and it go to 2,000 rpm and just kinda stays there, but bounces up and down by about 2-300 rpm.

UPDATE: After letting the truck sit for about 30 minutes w/the batteries disconnected I hooked them back up and took it for a spin and as soon as I was on the ramp merging onto the highway it did it again (stock setting).

It's your lucky day. That is no big deal on a LLY at all. IT is not transmission related at all and no harm has been done.

What is happening it is you are setting a 1093 code. Do a search for 1093 for lots of information. If your edge is ver 1.0 call edge and get it updated to 1.2 My 1.2 has never set a 1093 on me and the old version would do it quite often. If that doesn't fix it and the truck still does it after you remove the edge then you need a relief valve changed under warranty.

Thanks for all the help! My edge is a v. 1.2, I've only had it for about 6 weeks.

I guess I'll be taking it to the dealer this week :). Hopefully they don't give me a hard time about the mods.....

Um take off ALL tuners or modules before taking it in. Out of site, out of mind.

I second that.

Just a quick question, would there be any sense in taking my truck up to autozone (i have a friend that works there) and having him clear the code?

Thanks!

Nope. It will do the same thing again.

UPDATE:

I just called the dealer and they drove it earlier today and couldn't duplicate the problem, and could not pull any codes. They are out driving it again right now but can't get it to happen.

aaaarrrrggggggggg! why me!

do you have tranny mods done?? you really shouldn't use level 5 without mods to the tranny, you'll end up hurting it. Edge warns against that. I'm thinking if you limped the tranny while in level 5, hurt something, now it will do it in any level.. hope I am wrong.

well, i just picked up the truck. They couldn't find anything wrong with it :(. I tried to get it to act up on my way home, but it was running great and I didn't have any problems at all..........

It's not really all that surprising that they couldn't duplicate it stock. You might have to consider doing the P1093 shim mod.

They should have got a code though. That part doesn't make sense.

I had the same thing happen with my '05. No codes No lights! After taking to the dealer...they did some other tests and found that I had a faulty fuel line pressure sensor. Once again, this was not throwing any lights or codes. The edge increases the chance of this happening. I have one on mine as well. It is a GM problem...it happens on factory trucks as well. THe edge just makes it more likely/easier to happen. I have heard on the factory trucks....it can be duplicated:with less than a half a tank of gas and going up an incline. I am getting my sensor replaced next week, so I guess we will see if this fixes the problem or not.......? Good luck!!
