Canadian spec truck - how can I get the park lights to stay on? When you manually turn park lights on with ignition off, they've got a timer on them and go out after a few minutes. :(

You would need to add a switch from a power source that isn't shut off by the rundown protection to the park light side of the relay.

Thanks for the reply Max. Occasionally if I park on the roadside at night for a short period I like to leave the park lights on for safety. Also sometimes I A-frame (flat tow) the truck behind my equipment - if its dark need the lights to stay on. I did some checking at the park lamp relay -terminal 85 is 12 volt always on so I assume terminal 86 is switched to earth through the BCM. What if I just put an extra switch to earth to keep lights on when needed or would this upset the BCM or would it be better to just feed 12 volt through a switch straight to terminal 87 (straight to park lights)?

I have done your headlight high and low on mod (with diaoid) - very good. This puts a code you can see on tech 2 in the BCM (doesn't matter).

Also I was studying your high idle mod. If this was connected to a switch then a constant ignition on 12 volt source rather than the brake switch wire what happens? Can it ramp up the idle when in gear and/or with the brake on?

You should be able to add a switch like you would like as long as the power supply to it isn't shut off by the battery run down protection.

If you hook the high idle to a switch you will run into problems if you try to drive the truck and leave the switch on. It will limit the RPM from what I understand. It still won't allow you to idle up in gear and it will still shut off if you hit the brakes. No advantage to having a seperate switch at all.
