: Machining DMF??? New clutch with old DMF???

I was pulling my 10k trailer up to Flagstaff from Phoenix and she started slipping a little under heavy load. :(

Right now it's a DMF that was replaced under warranty 70k ago and a Valeo clutch that I did at the same time. I'm actually kind of surprised it's lasted as long as it has. This couldn't come at a worse time as I owe the Feds $4k this year.

So can you even machine the DMF? Should I just throw a new disc and pressure plate in and call it good until I can afford better?

Autozone is where I bought the Valeo clutch from. They are going to warranty it and give me a new one. Except they don't carry Valeo anymore. So it will be a Duralast clutch.

Can I just rough up the old flywheel with a wire wheel or something?

In my opinion, I would think that it would be in your best in interest to replace the DMF with a SMF at this point.

I don't believe that the DMF is machineable, at least I haven't heard of anyone doing this. I think you will be going back into it soon though. Most folks pulling the loads you are end up trashing the DMF at about the mileage you say you have on it now.
