Well if they are keeping the same flywheel then I would think that the junk dual mass flywheel would be the weak point.

does anyone know with the new emission laws will the new duramax allow people to straight pipe it.

I not sure but I am sure it can still be done as long as your state dosen't check emissions.

The manual trucks are going to only come with the LLY not the LBZ.. so no they will not hold any more.

How Censored stupid is GM. Put a Censored flywheel behind that engine and let's get the same factory HP as the Allison. This is pure bullCensored!!!!

Ok...rant is over.

I agree, Censored GM has their head where the sun don't shine on this deal. What they appear to be doing is trying to phaze out 6spd's.Used to be at least on Dodges the 5spds got more than the auto's.Too bad we don't get that advantage.

they get more money out of the Allison when someone buys them and they would have to spend more money if the came up with a new flywheel that would work will that power. Yes I would agree they are trying to get ried of us.

How sure are you of this and where did you locate this info?

I got the info from a friend who is the commerical sales rep at my dealer. I read the release that he had from GM. It stated that all trucks equiped with the manual would have the LLY as well as all 4500 trucks and the new 250hp LLy for the vans. Basically the only truck you can get the LBZ is a 2500HD or 3500 with an auto. Hummer H1 also stays with LLY. That's just what I read and I am sure it could change but I doubt it.

My guess would be we are about to see the end of the manual dmax. GM has failed to fix the flywheel problem they have had since 01 and I don't think they really care. I would love to be able to buy a new 6 speed LB7.... but I forgot we have to save the earth and recirculate exhaust gases and burn more 3 dollar diesel...sorry end of  .

I would be amazed if GM didn't offer a manual trans with the duramax.......
now, if they could only realize that the dual mass flywheel doesn't work........

I hate the fact that the allison is so touchy to power upgrades. It has to relearn to higher power levels and shifts badly with some power adders. My left leg and right arm don't have to relearn Censored . O' well, I have one so I guess I'll have to cope.

Yeah what the Censored is wrong with selling the LBZ with the Manual.
I just don’t understand?

Some tuners are touchy with the 6 speed too. I know the ppe of mine sure is. Your better off to take off some what fast cause if you try to take off slow when it hits 2000 RPMs it's wiplash time in any gear:Whoa: . But yes if I can dog on an Auto trans. I will.

Hopefully Toyota or Nissan will offer a 6spd manual when they introduce their diesel powered trucks in the next year or so.

Chevy needs to get the manual power equal to the ali that a way we could really smoke those dodges.

I expect the SMF/floater/dual disc kit will be very strong. SD expects mine to get close to 800 on the next run. I intend to test once I get a kit.

I know what you mean.I'm in the same spot.I plan to keep my 01' LB7 for a while but when I do trade I need another manuel.

Why do I want to pay $2-3k more for an automatic that I don't want to use in the first place. I have 130k+ miles on my '02 and it is going strong. If everything works out I'm planning on keeping it for another 4 - 5 years. Hopefully by then GM has their sh!t together!!!

Same with me. I'll give up my 6-speed manual when they pry the shifter from my cold dead fingers.

It's a diesel truck fecrissakes. One of the last vestiges of manhood left in this society. I don't want no stinkin' automatic girly transmission in my truck! A MAN knows how to shift gears. Automatic in my pickup? Might as well give me an estrogen injection.

The LBZ looks like a good thing. I'd consider upgrading my '02 to an LBZ right now but the lack of a 6-speed manual is a deal killer for me. I ain't even gonna look at'em.

And if my truck wears out and they still haven't got a decent manual offering, I'll look elsewhere.

I too, could not imagine the Dmax as an auto. I dont even think Ive ever driven an Allison. Rode in one a few times. Didnt care for it.

But I think the real reason that the general is fading out manual trans is emissions. Complete (well, for most of us) defueling on every shift, and then coming back onto the boost.....creates a lot of CO, and soot.

Too bad though.
