I went to remove the snorkle from the fender and as far as I could tell someone has already done this. The piece that goes behind the blinker to the fender was still there, I took this piece out is this a good idea or is it better to have it there, it looked restritive. I also did the mods on Kennedy's web site to the air box. When my truck was at the dealership they put in a new air filter, this filter has a piece of foam on the outside, the one that was in it before didn't is it a good idea to leave that there or take it out? The snorkle that everyone it talking about goes from the filter box up to the other piece right, all that was in there on mine was the metal of the fender.

Hi Matt.

Your description is rather cryptic to me. Can you post a photo?

Sincerely,

Rob :)

It's a good idea to take out the piece behind the blinker, it's very restrictive. You might get a little more of larger dirt-pieces into the airbox, but the filter's there to keep them out.

New filters have the foam on the intake side. I leave it there because I think there must be some good reason for it, and it keeps a lot of the black smear from going into the paper. I think the black smear will quickly clog the paper, but not the foam, because the paper is much finer than the foam. Though the foam will make for some restriction, it seems to me it's better to have it because the overall restriction of the filter will be less over time. For lager pieces of dirt, like bugs, they just drop off the foam instead of getting stuck between the rips of the paper. In any case, the foam provides additional filtering without much restriction, and that's a good thing to have. I don't think it would be noticeable if you remove it.
