Well I've been looking into gooseneck trailers to haul my 50HP 4x4 loader tractor around with a heavy duty bush-hog. I've been using a 5 ton Hudson with an 18' deck and 2' beaver-tail low profile with a pintle hitch for some time now on smaller stuff. This particular setup weighs in around 9,000lbs plus the trailer so I'm thinking gooseneck would be a better option. I've searched locally and online and found the Kaufman trailer website and can buy exactly what I'm looking for around $2500 less than any place where I live!! Is this to good to be true? Are they good trailers or is it a case of "you get what you pay for".

I purchased a Kaufman trailer in 2008; it’s a 12000lb. bumper pull equipment trailer. I ordered it with a number of options and overall satisfied with the purchase, it shakes a little bit when empty and the tires only lasted 2 years for me and that’s not a whole lot of miles. I have 2 excavators 8500lb and 9500lb, and a 7500lb skid steer, it handles them fine, pulls straight but the brakes could stand to be a little stronger.
I also have an Appalachian trailer 12000lb 20' deck over, the fit and finish isn't quite as nice as the Kaufman but its well built. I will take a hard look at Appalachian when I purchase again, they didn't offer what I wanted in 2008.
From what I hear gooseneck is the way to go, but I don't have that option when pulling with the dump.

fwiw.... 5th wheel(but I'm biased)..... and oil bath axles and obviously full brakes....
I know nothing about those small trailers but if its that much cheaper I'd certainly be looking at it closely!! because on my big trailers.... the price really does tell a story all its own once you actually do a side by side comparison

I picked up a couple of trailers there for some friends. Those trailers are still used daily 5 years later. Take the price they charge you picked up, add mileage to deliver it to a local dealer, then add the dealers markup. You get what you pay for is true, but sometimes taking out the middleman helps.
