Looking to buy new 5th wheel hitch and can't decide between going with undermount rails or the standard rail in the bed. I'm also looking at Reese signature series with slider. I would appreciate any pointers.

I've got the rease setup with slider, works great and the bed is 100% usable once you pull the hitch. I just leave mine attached to the camper and use it to lift it out of the bed.

It's nice but cost money, thats your deciding factor. Is it worth the extra coin to you?

Which reese setup do you have? I've been looking at the signature series and the select plus and also standard 16k w/slider. Just wandering. There seems to be too many options out there and I am sure I am putting way too much time into buying one.

Ultimately, ask yourself if the rails being in the bed once you remove the hitch is a big deal.

The only issue I can possibly see with rails is cosmetic, and for me personally, the cosmetics of my cargo box aren't high on my priority list - I have rails.

I've got the signature series, i think the rails would interfere with plywood laying flat where the hudden setup doesnt.

I have Reese Signature (rail under the bed). The reason behind of this is that I can slide about anything like for example - dryer or scrape off mulch out from the truck bed. I installed rails myself last summer. It was so easy and I save lot of money too!

I Just got a Reese Elite 18k with under bed rails installed into my truck. I have to say it's a verry nice setup. Even the sales guys at the trailer place where drooling over it. I haven't tried to pull it out of the bed yet, but will tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

With two people you can remove the hitch easily, by yourself you'll drop a nut and break a foot when you drop it on your toe. If you do by yourself, pull the pins and remove the head seperately to make it easier on yourself.

Then again i might just be a girly man.......

Ditto on pulling the pins. Makes removing the hitch a breeze. two pins directly under the head and it pulls right off. two more pins and pulling the levers to 90 degrees and the rest comes up. Both are light enough for one to easily carry. Takes 5 minutes, if that. I've got to compliment Reese on doing this right.

I like the Pulrite 18K Superglide; the slider is 100% automatic. Mount on the 2011 is sturdiest Iv'e ever had. The Superglide is heavy and I don't think you should try to remove alone. I put an eye hook in the garage ceiling so when I want the hitch out I use a little chain hoist which makes it an easy one man job do take it out and put it on a little dolly for moving it around. I have a bed rug and when you remove the hitch and pins the holes aren't even noticable as the nature of the bed rug material allows the holes to self seal. Very nice, very clean and you never have to worry about 5th wheel trailer clearance.

I have put in the Reese signature under the bed rail with the 'pucks' in the bed, and have both the 18K fifth and the gooseneck. Ironically, I have used the gooseneck much more often! Both work great, drop in easy, but getting the initial set-up with heights and adjustments was a little time consuming. I put in the rails myself over an afternoon and a few swear words...lol..I have posted pics.

I have hauled dirt, appliances, sod, everything and having the pucks worked better with skids and pallets than a rail..

just my two cents..enjoy!

Pullrite Superglide for me as well. Pricey but the automatic sliding was why I got it. Don't have to mess with the manual sliding procedure or the aftermath when you forget to manually slide it. But it is heavy. I also like the removable rails for sliding plywood or other things in the bed.
