Yes you need the PTO switch. You will also need cruise control for this.

Hey Max, just like your speed limiter removal trick do you have a high idle trick too? On my '01 there's a push switch beside my air bag deactivator marked "aux Lights". Can I wire a high idle to that? Thanks. Nick

Sure you can. Actually Kennedy Diesel has about the best instructions around.

I recommend the way kennedy shows. Now where kennedy and I disagree is that I recommend wiring it to the brake switch instead of a seperate on off switch. This way all you need to do is press set twice when the truck is in park. As soon as you hit the brake or shift into gear the high idle will shut off. Kennedy recommends a seperate on/off switch but I like the stealthyness of hooking it to the brake switch. Either way you chose to do it his intructions are top notch.

The brake switch method will only work on an automatic.

I assume that you have to get the lever from the dealer & any instructions with it?

Yes get it from the dealer. You might get a better deal through Eric or Gmpartsdirect.

You don't really need any instructions its pretty easy to do.

This also works on any 03+ and newer GM gas truck.
