I just purchased a 04 GMC D-Max. Looking to do some cost effective upgrades before race season. I have ordered a set of gauges to install and picked up a PPE Standard from a buddy of mine. Just curious what I should add to help with towing overall(temps, mileage, power, etc.)?Currently have a 26 ft bumper pull enclosed with 2800 lb car. (Tools, parts, etc. not sure what total weight is?) Possibly getting a 40 foot to fit other car in as well.

These are tow machines from the factory, it'll pull your trailer just fine. I would recommend weighing the trailer so you know the exact weight when loaded, and make sure the load is properly distributed. Are you running a weight distributing hitch?

I do have one. Each car is 2800 lbs, plus tools, shocks, parts, tons of weight I'm sure.

The most basic thing to be sure of is that when coupled and loaded, the truck and trailer should be level. With adjustable hight hitches and weight bars, there is no excuse for them not to be. That 40 ft trailer, is it bumper pull or gooseneck?

Absolutely, positive, bar none best MPG gain while towing?

Go slow.

Stick at at 60MPH and you'll do fine. 70, 75+ like some here report towing at? It'll totally destroy your MPG.
