New '05 blowing cigarette lighter fuses. I hear the OBD port is fused from the cig lighter but have not used the OBD. I have an appointment with the dealer for repair but wondering if anyone else had the problem and what was found? Also wondering if 15A is enough fuse for the lighter. Service rep asked right off the bat "What did you plug in there?". Instead of replying with "My plasma TV" I simply gave her the truth.. "The cigarette lighter". You don't suppose they wire the OBD to that fuse as a tell-tale on who's using programmers? I'm not, yet.

Probably a pinched wire. Possibly behind the OBD port.

yes the OBD is wired to the same fuse. found that out the hard way.

I seem to have the same problem as you describe. I have only plugged my bag cell phone or my small satellite radio into the cigarette lighter plug in (right side on my truck) both of which never blew any fuses on my 2001 2500HD. It is getting frustrating as one minute it will work, drive all day and no problem, shut off the truck and start it up later and the device no longer works when you plug it back in. Any info you can find out would be great as I am unable to make it to a dealership many times as I work in remote locations.

I just found out my cig. fuse was blown when I went to plug the OBD in. I have never even used the cig. lighter. I guess when I take it in for the CD stuck in the radio and seat belt recall I should have them check that out!!

The dealer determined the lighter was internally shorting. ??? They replaced the unit but I don't know if that included any wiring. I've tested it a couple times and it's ok (it was blowing after a single use).
