I've heard the LLY has a different fuel filter. A little longer from what I've heard. Does anyone know the specs?

For those that have received thier LLY or have it on order (like me). Do you plan on adding secondary filtration? Why or why not?

Thanks, Marco

I've been considering it real hard. I wanted to wait and see if the GM approved Racor setup would be out. As for the different filter, one of the members who is a tech up in Oregon somewhere, posted that the filter is 1" longer. Others who posted said Racor did not change the design or filter media and that they were interchangeable with the LB7 filter. Some who've talked about the LB7 filters have said there's no way to put a longer filter on the LB7, so maybe it's that the LB7 filter will fit the LLY, but not vice versa.

I've got a Nictane on order ( sinece Dec. 22) to put on the LLY that was delivered to my dealer yesterday. No matter how muck better the OEM filter is it still will be a pain to change out as compared to the Nictane. My service manager says that with that on before the OEM he doesn't see any reason to ever change the OEM.

Zeeb,

Try this link for the Racor "GM approved" setup:

http://www.gasgasrider.org/Racor_2500HD.pdf

The filter that it comes with is a 10 micron filter. Why 10 micron when all the other aftermarkets are 2 micron?

It would be the best setup since it has the WIF sensor and is GM approved, but 10 micron and expensive would make me look elsewhere.

mbeckwith,

Thanks for the link. I picked that up off the other thread:

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4173&PN=1

But the guy who started it said he'd ordered one with the distributor agreeing to change the filter to a 2 micron. Sounded like the ideal solution to me, so I called Racor.

They told me the part number for the kit is good, but the kit is not available, the brush guard part number for the filter is not in the computer, and the local distributor name and phone number they gave me is no good since that business apparently doesn't exist anymore.

See my update on the other thread. Just talked to Racor engineering guy and he gave me some new information, along with a number for the Salt Lake City distributor that works.Edited by: Zeeb
