hey guys, just a quick question. I have a 04 lly with a hypertech tuner on stage 3 and last weekend just put a summit exhaust on. the exhaust is 4 inch at the turbo then 5 inch all the way out with a little muffler in the middle. the exhaust sounds killer but if i get on it hard and then let up it makes a strange sound almost like a howl. other than that the truck is bone stock. i am not sure if this is turbo bark or what. any suggestions, if this is turbo bark how can i get rid of it. thanks

sounds more like turbo spool down from the more open exhaust system you have..."Bark" would have more of a flutter sound or "woosh woosh woosh" sound

correct... the turbo spooling up and down will be much easier to hear now with open exhaust. its a nice whistle when accelerating and a howl sound when off the pedal.

turbo bark is when the turbo itself stops in its tracks from air being rushed back to it..you will know it when you hear it. It sounds like your truck is coughing!!

Hey dlovesfuel...check out a few of Mike Tomac's (http://duramaxracing.com/) vid's and you'll hear a good example of turbo bark. At the end of his pulls when he cuts the throttle, you'll hear a woofing noise...like woof...woof...woof! That's turbo bark. It's very noticeable.

wow his website is pretty sweet. I grew up in michigan and have a ton of relatives there now as i live in arizona but that was cool to see. yea my truckis not barking i think i just wasnt used to the turbo slowing down. thanks for the info.
