I filled my truck up last night with diesel fuel.. and today I was driving and it started *missing out or burping.. whatever u wanna call it.. and I hear a weird noise that sounds un-normal like in the bottom of the engine.. and instead of black smoke rolling out its a greyish white..
Is it possible I got some water in the diesel or just bad diesel?
I have a 2005 Duramax,
Silverline 4" exhaust Turbo Back (Removed the kitty)
and Edge with attitude..
It does this periodically.. Not all the time.
Any suggestions?

tried unhooking the edge and seeing if it does it

it could possibly be water, but i would do what big truck big power said and unhok the edge.

I have the same problem with the same mods. I fueled up and was running on level three and had the problem. turned the edge off and it still did it. I was pouring black and would give a good puff of white when I lifted off the throttle.
Today I put 7 gallons of fuel in from a different source and drove 60 miles with the edge totally off and I have not experienced a problem. I am wondering if there is a injector issue.

White smoke is not good. That is raw fuel, coming out the pipe. Usually that's injector related.

I had the same problem when I removed my cat. I unhooked my edge and it still did it so I put my cat back on and it hasnt done it since.

Join the club!Have 04 lly 27k mi.Started the miss and chug last week and several days in the shop later still no answers,"everything checks out". At 2500 rpm the engine misses and lays down massive clouds of white smoke, and power goes away.Does this in all gears.Turbo is intermittent in operation too. Can't find a good Tech...Ford guys giving me crap now...will post answer if we ever find it.Any thoughts guys?

Should I replace my cat? I kept it just in case. I was wanting to keep it off for obvious reasons.. But if it would cure the problem I would reinstall. Any suggestions?

Mine did it at idle, especially in the cold weather. Once I put my cat back on it stopped. Try putting an addative in like NCMIC did, see if that works. If it doesnt try putting the cat back on.

Is the engine setting codes? Mine is setting turbo codes, tried new vane contol solenoid,no luck...next is oil press check valve in turbo. Hope this works. These motors are great, when they work. The dealers up in our neck of the woods don't stock any Dmax stuff at all-:t two days for anything Will take a year to fix at this rate.

Found problem! Intermittent fault with turbo sensor, sometimes would set codes, sometimes not.White smoke and chugging consistantly at 2500 RPM. GM told Tech to change both turbo vane control solenoid and sensor next time similar problem shows up...must be a known fault,eh? This thing has been sick a while so hoping mpg is better. The power hasn't been this good in a while!Awesome:)
