Some how the plug connection on my truck has developed a cut in the outside cover creating a short. I don't know if it still working but I have my doubts. The glow plugs were on longer than usual for the temperatures I experienced today. What I would like to know is can I change the cord or do I have to replace the whole heater?
Thanks

Lop off the exitsting plug and replace with a weatherproof plug. They make them for extension cord repairs. That is essentially what you have there.
I am not sure if a new cord can be plugged into the heater, but most are. Take a look at the heater on the block to see if it looks like the cord is removeable. If it is, then any autoparts storre should find a cord to plug in, or the dealer will hopefully have one.
Good luck, MN

It's removable. It just unplugs from the heater. A couple people have had them unplug from the heater on there own and thought they were bad.

I unplugged mine and installed a heavier guage wire with weatherproof plug-in. I also made it come out under the grill so you don't have to constantly raise and lower the hood. This saves time and wear and tear on the latches. Relatively simple project, consisting of less than 30 minutes.
