So I live in SOCal and California Diesel laws suck. I have been out of the diesel world for about 2years and looking to buy asap. Question on the DPF??
Can you buy a programer to just shut off the DPF function and leave the stock DPF on? so that If get stop I will still have the DPF on but added MPG's.
And if by removing the DPF alone on a stock 4x4 how much MPG gain is it and power.
I test drove 2 today and really want to but this week. Thanks for the help guys.

If you turn off the the system with the DPF still. You'll clog it up quick.

They say less than a gallon used during a regen process. Some post explain the percentage of increase. Better read up on if you delete the DPF and how it can void your warranty with the history the ECM keeps in it. Many post on that too. The only real way to increase is with tuning but again the ECM with tattle tale on you if you go in for a major engine or drivetrain issue.

So just curious what would happen if you put a cut out in front of the DPF? It would bypass some of the exhaust but not all of it. Would it be enough to keep a light from coming on?

punching a whole through the dpf should trip a light since they monitor delta pressur across the dpf.

Call Kennedy and get a kit with that service and advice you will have a fit and finish to go back to pipe it for emmissions and then put in straight pipe again when that's done. You just need to call to see how easy it is.

Not that I know of. You also would want one that looks like the DOC too since you would want to remove that to.
