At the title states, sold the 02 Dmax CC I had since new @ 122K miles. Just didn't need a HD diesel anymore, didn't tow in 1 1/2 years. No question, DMax could do any job asked of it, had original injectors thanks to Nicktane I think.

Bought a 2010 Silverado LT, 5.3L Crew cab, short bed, HD everthing from Towing package to cooling package. It was a left over demo with 600 miles, price was right, they gave me $13,500 for the 02 and I gave them a check for $22K for the new truck. Tax everything included out the door.

I like this forum too much to just drop out since I no longer have a diesel, and believe me, I have no desire to go back. Diesel is great, been driving them in one form or another for the past 35 years. Each truck has its plus and minuses, thought this over for the past year.

Congrats on the new truck. You may not drive a diesel anymore but no doubt your knowledge gained here can still help others. Enjoy your new truck.

It will have a six speed but not exact sure which model but it be like 6L60E or something close to that. I believe the ones with the 6.2L gas use the 6L90E model.

You have the 6l80e.

The 2500HD's have the 6l90e's. The 1500 with the 6.2 still has the 6l80e.

The 6 speed Hydra Matic auto. What i'm trying to figure out is the grade breaking this trans has that is the same as the Allison. You can only use it in the tow haul mode and while in the M (manual mode). You put the trans in M and select how high of a gear you will allow it to get up to (1-6). When you go down grade, it is supposed to downshift the trans and safe on the brake wear. What I don't know is you can be driving along in D and then shift to M while moving. Manual doesn't go into detail enough and I don't know anyone who has one. Seems to be a great feature to have especilly towing a trailer and going down steep grades. There is no 1, 2, 3 gear on the dash Just PRNDM.

Code for the trans say MYC. 3.42 rear. G80 locker. Build and Vin sheet are on this forum, as a nice person looked it up for me. Dealer was not much help.

Thanks, alway's good to know. I like to do my own PM so I'm sure one day I will need that info. Already have westin steps, but we got snow again and if you look at the avatar by my name, that truck sits in the garage, do no steps until the snow goes away or it gets above 30 in the sun. I also need a fumato to get around the skid plate.

My dad has a 2011 K2500 suburban w/a six speed trans (not sure which one) behind a 6.0. It really is a great trans, 1st gear is nice & low.

Funny you mention the Fumoto. I bought an 11' for my mom and after reading about all of the skid plate issues, I bought a drain valve BEFORE I actually received the vehicle. Turns out on hte 11's you don't need it. I wonder if they changed them in 11'?

I had one on the 02 which had no skid plate, and one on our Yukon and find they are nice and clean to use, no tools and just drain into a pan while taking the filter off. Well worth the money IMO.

I've only skimmed thru the manu so far, but I thought I read to change the trans fluid at 100K miles. Maybe, but knowing myself, it will be changed before that.
