re:2002 duramax 2500HD 4X4 crew cab LB

Last week I developed a radiator hose leak on the bottom hose....only had to add water once....just a split at the clamp...cut 1/2" off, clamped it back on, good to go....did that on Sunday evening....Monday, I noticed oil dripping out of the crankcase vent tube on the front of the engine on the passenger side and oil has blown out everwhere underneath and rear of truck..about a pint mabey...this truck has never leaked a drop of oil...as of today truck still reads no oil loss on stick but it is still leaking plenty...any ideas before I take it in to the dealer?...could I have knocked something loose that I am missing visually?....there is also a little bit of roughness at idle...the truck has 82000 mi. & gauges are reading normal...thanks, Boots

check your oil sounds like you are making some like your injectors are probably leakjng into the crank case, that why you are not low.smell it and see if it smells like diesel.-:t

You probably knocked the clamp loose when you changed the radiator hose. Mine started leaking on my 2004 because it was loose from the factory. It's a large clamp and it doesn't fit real good to begin with. I think there was a TSB out on this and they told me if it leaked again they would order a new hose. Hope this helps----

I vote for an injector or a return line leaking fuel into the crank.
Rough idle and black puddle under truck (usually)=new injector/s.

Scotty, I don't know what clamp you are talking about......I am starting to believe that I have caught it in the early stages of the injector problem.....the dealer will be blessed with it Monday...thanks...Boots

Things that make you go Hmmmmmm.....

My crankcase vent tube has always blown out a light film of oil since the day I took delivery of it. And the years I worked for Cat, there was always a light film of oil coming out of those. Nature of the beast!

So tell me, is this not mormal on a DMax? And the vent tube I am refering to comes down the right front of the engine and vents just above the skid plate. I have never smelled any diesel in my oil and my level has never gone over full and I have never had any dripping oil sitting in the driveway or other places.

The vent tube on my Dmax leaves a light film of oil on the oil pan. I added a piece of hose, so now it mists the oil below the skid plate, no more dirty engine!

I remember reading about it somewhere on the internet but this is from memory..... Anyway some of the air that gets sucked into the turbo or into an intercooler comes from the crankcase. That air has oil in it and they condense the oil out of the air and then vent it out the tube. This is so that it does not collect on the blades of the turbo or plug up an intercooler. I'll see if I can find that article again....Anywho "some" oil is normal
