i was curious if a NP205 would mate to a ZF-6? i would assume if it does it would have to be the ones with the round bolt pattern

It has the round bolt pattern if it's an 85+ np205 but thespline count is different and smaller on the 205.

I know the Dodge 27spline 205 from behind a getrag will also work behind an nv4500 and I believe nv5600 so it might work, but I think there is some other issue as well. Whats your plan? If you're doing it in a 01+ pickup I'd run a np271 from a 06+ Ford.

would i be able to change out the input with a bigger one?

well i was considering doin a dmax swap into a mid 80's chevy crew dually, and i want to keep the passenger side drop, and i did some googling and it should work but you just have to change the input shaft to a ford 31 spline input from the ford NP205

If it helps at all, I'm planning on putting a ZF-6 and NP205 in my 1986 crew cab dually.

I lucked out and found a 2wd ZF-6 and I already had a divorced NP205. This also means that any speed sensor can be used off the transmission output if needed. Although it would be inaccurate in 4 low.

sounds like your tryin to do what i am, im goin for a mid 80s (pref 86 or 87) crew cab dually, but im tryin to find a 4x4 one so i dont have to buy a reman t-case, just rebuild it and find a reman zf-6 or buy one from a wrecked truck and rebuild it, im tryin to do a dmax conversion, right now im just figuring out everything before i get into it a whole lot, seems like i could do it just fine, ppe can make the harness a stand alone so im gonna keep my hopes up that i can make it happen

I snooped around PPE website and saw that stand alone wiring they can produce. That definately is a big plus if I decide to do a Duramax swap.

My ZF-6 came from a 2002 Chev 3/4 ton 2wd with an 8.1 which had a measily 34000 km's on it before it was parted out. I think it had lots of idling time though. I only paid $1k for the tranny, which is cheaper than what some people ask for an NV4500.

Most people I talk to about my truck, they recommend getting a D-max/Allison and t-case all together and swap the front axle for driver's side pumpkin. But I can't twin stick the newer t-case, my truck is already a manual and I also have a PTO and winch for an NP205 (all parts from previous project that never took off).

yea im just gonna keep the original front axle and rebuild it, dont feel much like finding a drivers side drop, rather just keep as much of it original gm as possible
