How hard is it to replace a left rear wheel seal.
Maybe someone could give me some pointers or step by step instructions
Do i need any special tools???
If so what are they

i also have the 100,000 mile warranty my truck has 57,000 on it
would that be covered
If you are talking about the 5/100 warranty on the engine, then no. If you have an extended warranty on the truck, then yes. See the thread just below on replacing axle seals.

Changing the seal yourself would require the axle to come out. You have to remove the C-clip from the axle shaft and getting to it can be trickey if never been done before. A Chiltons manual or Helms covers this easily with pictures. You may need a slide hammer to remove present seal. Not a bad job, but if it were covered by warranty, then they are the ones who should be doing it.
On edit, if you do one, you should do both since you have everything out and open. Removing the second axle after the first is out is a snap. Doubt the warrenty coverage would cover than unless you found a cool dealer who reported that both were bad.

If ECC_33 has a 2500HD or 3500, the rear diff is a Full Floater, NO C-clip.
Do a search, another thread takes you step by step.
Here, I did it for you. (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=655777&postcount=2)

Wow! Looks like things have changed up a bit lately. Gone are the C-clip days I guess. (For the HD's) Thanks for correcting me!
