: Towing with a big tune

I have plans on a tts extreme... After I get the tranny of course. What is my weight limit on towing with the tts? I'm just kind of thinking ahead (for once)

Matters, I have towed a deccent sized enclosed with a camaro inside and the EGT's will climb quick. Clicking it down into the 80 HP level towed it just fine. Big program+towing= sooted trailer if your not carefull too.

Shut up juice, I dont wana hear it:flipa: ):h

So they 80hp tune will be just fine? I'm looking at towing 18k or so.

80hp is a nice program as is the 120. They run pretty cool egt's. 80 wont be too much IMO if thats what your asking?

That's exactly what I was asking. :)

I was afraid I'd have to go with a stack so I could go with a lower setting. Which wasn't what I wanted to do.

The TTS 80hp probably runs lower egt's with a load than I run empty right now. What kind of temps does the 80 run just rolling around town? and the 120? and at WOT?

Seemed it ran just a shade cooler than the juice did in comparble settings. Duno about WOT in 80 or 120, if I'm going WOT I figure I might as well be set to kill;) I run Xtreme 99% of the time. I have played in the 80 and 120 just to see what it was like when I first got it. I plow snow in the 80 also most times. 80 runs about 600-650 or so at 70mph I believe. I dont remember exact numbers on the juice.....just that when I first hooked up the TTS it seemed to me that it ran a touch cooler. Nothing scientific.

The 80 is a very nice smooth program. I was worried that plowing would be a PITA with the 80 but was pleasantly supprised that its great. The juice set to 90 could be a slight pain at times plowing or in the rain, 80 drives like stock with a wee bit more umph. Maybe its the way Steve controls the throttle imput? Duno but the 80 is a great program IMO. I played a wee bit in the 120 when I first got the TTS just to see what it was like and found it like the 80 with just a wee bit more umph.

I'm working on getting the $ for a tranny and a tts. And you're sweating over twins. Life doesn't seem fair right now.

Oh.....I aint sweating over twins. I like my NAAAAAWS. Priorities, you can sleep in your truck but you cant drive your house. You get used to showers at truck stops after awhile too. Gov't cheeze tastes pretty good too. :D

Well, you are in the right order. Get your Programming in place for more fuel, and a trans as priotity#1

The oxygen enhancements can wait.

Gauges

POWER :ro) And Trans

Then some SD Tie Rod Sleeves

Then Some Trippin Tracs

That is a good start

Then Top Ramen Recipies from McRat, then whatever added oxygen generator you want!:D

When I tow, I normaly earn money doing it. I remove the Quad215 and keep the HJAT on level 1-2 most of the time. The reason I'm doing this is because towing in level 3-5 burns alot of fuel and reduce the amount of money I have left when my tow is done.

In 10 hours of driving (typical day); you can easily burn 30-50$ worth of extra fuel if your have to much power available. I can thing think of many things to do with that money like filling my blue bottle for friday night drags...

The sleeves will be next more than likely. I keep getting side tracked on the tranny fund.

Easy to do ... right up until it takes a big dump on you.

Then it is amazing how quickly priorities change.

I'm being sort of nice to it so far. I've only ran the 120 tune for a day, the rest of the time its been in the 85 tune. I have been pretty rough on it now that I think back on it.

i have been running a 230 plus tune(westers) as well for towing, but mine does not smoke like the tts, which is real nice for less soot on the trailer, another gent had the extreme but was sitated in a provincial park he told me for excesive smoke, one must also use common sense on bigger grades and egt gauges are a must, i also find the socal tq converter a bit agressive for pulling a 10k trailer, the older suncoast does a much better job of smother shifts while pulling

RedRiceEater

I was thinking about a Suncoast Stage 3 or 4. Depending on if I can wait to save the extra $500 or not. Anyway... am I ok in the department too for towing 18-22k or somewhere in that area?
